We’re Recruiting

After several years of working hard to raise funds, the Board of Trustees are pleased to share that we’re now recruiting to the first paid role at Free to Fly.

If you’re based in Portsmouth, seeking part-time work with a view to perhaps increasing your hours in the future, and you’re someone with a genuine passion for working to help women to leave and stay free from abuse long-term, please check out our current vacancy, being advertised here by our friends at Charisma Charity Recruitment.

The role is flexible, working from your home primarily, in Portsmouth. It would suit those with other responsibilities who can commit decent chunks of time to work each week but who aren’t able to commit to rigid employment with fixed working hours.

This is a special position because it’ll give you lots of opportunities to own key decisions and lead on them, and shape a service that changes lives.

We’re looking for someone who lives in the city… because that’s where you’ll be spending your time, and you’ll be dipping in and out of meetings, running drop-ins, and leading events in and around the local area, so you’ll need to be able to get around the city and probably already have connections within relevant spheres professionally. You’ll be travelling beyond the city too, at times, and transporting supplies and equipment, so being a car driver is essential.

If you’re a skilled communicator, you can self-manage and also lead others, you’re completely trustworthy, motivated, and you’re someone who values being part of the fabric of the Portsmouth community and want to be a key person in our charity’s growth, we’d love to hear from you.

There will be lots of opportunities to shape your own role, and to be rewarded for your efforts. We know everyone needs their work to pay, and we want you to feel that your work is financially worthwhile as well as making a real difference to people.

If you’re from this incredible city, and you’re a professional person who’s looking for a truly flexible role, with lots of scope for progression as we grow, and your heart and ethos is the right fit for us, please get in touch with our recruiting team.

We hope to make an appointment soon, so please do apply if you’re interested – we’d love to hear from you.

Thank you.

National Lottery Grant News

The Free to Fly team are delighted to share that we are now recipients of a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.

This grant is one of a number that our Fundraising Team have been busily applying for, to help cover the costs of delivering essential services that impact women and their unborn babies in the city of Portsmouth. We’ll be sharing news of how these much-needed funds have been spent very soon – so watch this space!

Huge thanks to the National Lottery for their support and faith in us. As a charity, we don’t receive any funding from the local authority, so income from grants, individual giving, partnering with local community groups, businesses, churches and other organisations is critical to enable us to help those who are bravely taking the step into freedom during their pregnancies. It’s a huge decision and we know how important it is to women to know that there’s someone there to help beyond the (wonderful) statutory-funded services out there.

If you’d like to help support a woman to leave an abusive relationship, and would like to give to our mission, your generosity makes a huge difference.

You can click here to visit our donations form here, now, and make a difference. It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes the whole nation to raise a generation. And we need your help to ensure our next generation are brought up safely, protected from the trauma of abuse
